“While on Christmas break from law school, Scott flew me up to visit his family in South Carolina the day after Christmas. We had planned a week-long road trip that would take us from Anderson, SC to Asheville, NC, to Nashville, TN for NYE and ending in Charleston, SC before heading back to Jacksonville. After spending a night with his family, we packed up our stuff and picked up a rental car and headed for the mountains. Scott had planned a day hike for us in Dupont Forest, and unbeknownst to me, a proposal! As we started off on our hike, I thought he was being slightly quiet but I didn’t think too much about it because I assumed he was just thinking ahead to our 10-day road trip. As we approached the first waterfall of our hike, I asked him to stop and take a picture with me but he insisted we make our way down to the bottom of a stair set, to the base of the waterfall. Reluctantly agreeing, I followed him down to a platform that had a beautiful display of red & gold roses (FSU colors, of course!) and I said to him, “OMG someone must be celebrating an anniversary!” He laughed nervously before grabbing my hand and leading me into the middle of the roses and getting down on one knee. The whole thing was caught on camera, as Scott had two of his good friends hiding from view to snap it all! It was perfect.”
